Apples, Oranges or Two Peas? and a Winner!

This morning, the girl who sleeps in til the last possible moment…Laney…was in our bedroom, dressed and ready for school.  It was 6:30am!!!  Ava wasn’t even up yet. Hello! Corey had just gotten up and said to me, “Laney is already awake and ready for school!”

“She’s excited about her field trip today.” I said.

“I want to leave now!  Now!  NOW!!!”  Laney said.

“I have absolutely no idea where she gets that from.”  said Corey sarcastically. ;D

“Me either.”

In your family do you see little miniature versions of yourselves running around?  Are your kids mixtures of the two of you?  Or do they seem to be alien personalities that you have no idea where they came from…the mailman perhaps?  He he!

In our family, for the most part, Ava is pretty much me and Laney is pretty much Corey…maybe a few cross over things here and there…but overall they are miniature “us-es” running around. ;D  And for the most part it is hilarious.  Laney is a night owl.  She is not an early bird. She loves sleeping in and waiting til the last possible moment to get up, get dressed and is racing out the door completely unprepared for the day…forgetting half herself behind.  She wouldn’t even go to school with shoes on if I didn’t remind her.  I’m not kidding.  She has literally gone out the door with everything but shoes on before.  Backpack?  What backpack?  This is soooooooooo Corey! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to put his lunch back in the fridge.  I’m sure he wasn’t even off our street when I did.  Laptop…um yeah.  I’ve had to deliver that to him numerous times.  Ugh!  But if it is something HE wants to do, or something HE is excited about he is up dressed and ready to go now, now, NOW!  Camping, fishing, biking, vacation…whatever.  And he is TOTALLY PREPARED!!!  Just like Laney was this morning for her field trip.  Thus the statement, “I have no idea where she gets THAT from!” ;D

I think Ava is growing.  Every time she does she is extremely tired, she sleeps in…something that is very unusual for her…she is the early bird of the family…and she says her body hurts…in very weird places.  Last night she wanted to read before going to bed.  I let her read for 5 minutes and I warned her I was turning the light off and she wouldn’t put her book away.  I warned her but she didn’t obey so I shut off the light and she was in the dark with her book.  So it was no surprise to me that 1. she got up late this morning…because she is growing…and 2. that she had the same book she went to bed with in her hand this morning.  What did surprise me was that she was reading it out loud to us.  She doesn’t do that often.  She is an excellent reader.  She just doesn’t prefer to read books out loud to me.  She does to Laney all the time.  She’s so funny.  So here’s what she looked like this morning reading her book…
