Today is one of those days when I am especially glad that I’m a SAHM. Ava has been working on a project for her science class about the moon. She worked really hard and stayed up late the last couple of nights as well as got up early this morning to finish it up. She did a really good job. I’m so proud of her and how responsible she is getting. She is so focused this year about homework and the importance of getting it done. She is in a charter school and because of this the work load is more than that of public school as well as the fact that they are more advanced in their teaching. For example Ava is in 2nd grade but she is actually learning at a 3rd grade level. It’s the same with every grade. Laney is in Kindergarten but learning 1st grade stuff. We are so grateful that they got into the charter school. However, sometimes the work load can be a bit daunting especially for kids so young.
I came home from picking up Laney (she is ½ day Kindergarten) and saw Ava’s moon project book on the couch in the living room. She had forgotten it this morning. She had gotten up early to finish up a few things on it and forgot to put it in her backpack…and so did I! So even though we had just gotten home I knew that the right thing to do was go back across town and take Ava’s project to school so she could turn it in. Laney wasn’t thrilled…”But Mom! We just got here!” But she piled into the car with me and didn’t say another word.
I was available to do this for Ava because of being a SAHM. I'm so thankful for this time in my life. It’s my "job". It’s what I love to do. And I didn’t mind doing it one bit. I’m thankful that for this time and this point and this moment I’ve been given this opportunity to do this for my girls. This isn’t to knock anyone who must work outside the home or chooses to. This is just me writing down my thoughts and feelings about my life…today. It may seem small to some but to me…given where I’ve come from and what my life was like…doing this for her means the world to me. Oh…and yes…it meant the world to her too…she was very thankful when I picked her up from school today.
Speaking of the moon…here’s a photo I took today…;D Ironic.
